Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving was a special day for us as we gave thanks to the Lord for his many blessings. We are so thankful for our marriage. Kim and I celebrated our 17th Anniversary on November 2nd (I'm thinking "where has the time gone" ; Kim might be thinking "has it not been longer than that"). The Lord continues to bless our boys. He continues to grow them in wisdom and stature. We are deeply thankful for the community of faith the Lord has surrounded us with and the opportunity we have to live in this place. Thanksgiving also gave us the opportunity to remember the history behind the Thanksgiving holiday. We were blessed to have several of our local friends join us for Thanksgiving this year as well. A Thanksgiving meal is much different for them as they are accustomed to eating "spicy" dishes most of the time. Sweets are not a big part of their diet. So we had to put a small plate of peppers for them to dip all their food in. It's funny because things that we think aren't very sweet, they think are very sweet. But it goes the other way as well -- things we think are super spicy, they think are very mild. Prior to our Thanksgiving meal we all participated in the 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl. This is our version of Thanksgiving Day football. Final Score: 7-6. Lots of fun with folks from many different countries participating with us. Following our Thanksgiving meal, friends came to our home to hang out, play games, watch football (Thank you Papa Dave for providing this year's game -- the Texas-Oklahoma shootout), and of course, eat some more. There was eating but it was at a much less frantic pace than lunch. As usual we had tons of great food!
